"George and Woddle". A concept for a children's book.
I wanted to catch the old 'Golden Books' feeling in a contemporary way.
The technique that I chose is rather complicated:
the background is made on computer and printed,
the characters and foreground are paper cuttings, painted and glued together. After attaching the foreground to the background the total is photographed with a shadow to give it the 'half 3D' feeling.
of course it is possible to add shadow in Photoshop,
but I wanted it to feel 'hand made'.

Here's the story:
Two ducks deside to do something useful with their time and build a super car. A car that can drive, fly and sail. They find a test-pilot by telling mr. Boring, who's waiting for the bus, that they have a much better solution....
At the end the 'car' actually seems to do all that it's designed for. Just in a different way.
As mr. Boring soon finds out... |
