Born in Amsterdam, Holland 1950. I've spent almost all of my childhood drawing. That was not very difficult, taking into account that my father, while I was growing up, chronologically worked as a photographer, illustrator of children's books, screen printer and free artist.

When asked as a child what I wanted to become later my answer was “ Clown or illustrator”.
From that perspective I didn't do too bad...

In school I was, naturally, chief of design for the school paper. This may explain why I was expelled prematurely.
Since that time I've spent 2 years behind a small table next to my father's and paid a lot of attention. Together we thought up and created illustrations. There I've learned the basics of the trade and how to best drink coffee with the tax men. Simultaneously I followed classes at the Arts Academy and on my 19th I started out
as an independent illustrator.

My father unfortunately is not among us anymore. March 2001 he died at the age of 90, leaving several hundreds of digital artworks. He was probably the oldest digital artist in the world. Here’s 1 sample, a selection of his work will appear here soon.

During the last couple of decades I've also explored
the side tracks of my profession:
-traditional and computer animation (in 1988!! I did the graphic design for the first computer animated 60' commercial on Dutch television that
won several international awards).
-designing and building sets and props for television and
I've designed puppets for tv series.
-designed and created ‘home accessories’
and even stuffed toys.

I’ve received several Illustration/design awards:
-Dutch Illustration Club (N.I.C)
-Dutch Furniture awards
-Print
-ADCNY
-Communication Arts

Ever since my childhood I've had a great interest in anything graphic or related to that: ‘design’, typography, photography, architecture and of course the many sides of ‘real art’. In spite of that I spend my spare time on saving our 1864 house from the elements.

Since about 5 years I became a great admirer of
Saul Steinberg. He’s my graphic hero.
Besides a rather big collection books and related items I also collected all The New Yorker covers that he made in 50 years.
